Mazda Reports Double-Digit Sales Increase in February

IRVINE, Calif., March 1 -- Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported sales of 23,580 vehicles in February -- a 13.0 percent increase versus the same period last year.

Mazda's strong February was led by impressive sales of its popular MAZDA3 and sporty MAZDA6. MAZDA3 reported sales of 7,536 units, accounting for a 7.0 percent increase versus last year, while MAZDA6 jumped 12.0 percent to 6,818 units sold.

Goodyear Posts Contingency Program for Spec Miata Endurance Championship

The U.S. Endurance Racing Association (USERA) announced that the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. is posting a product contingency program worth $17,600 for the 2006 Championship season of the USERA Spec Miata Endurance Championship.

The contingency program will provide four free tires to teams running Goodyear tires that come in first, second and third places.

Bridgestone tires gets OE agreement for new Mazda Miata

Bridgestone's Potenza performance tires will be available as original equipment on Mazda's redesigned 2006 MX-5 Miata. Bridgestone will supply the roadsters with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A RFT Run-Flat tires and will offer its Blizzak winter run-flat tires as aftermarket replacements for the model.

Mazda to power U.S. Formula Atlantic series

Mosport International Raceway Announces Mazda Miata MX-5 Cup Race

Mosport International Raceway is revving up for its 45th anniversary season with the announcement that tickets for the six-event schedule, featuring the only Canadian round in the prestigious American Le Mans Series for exotic prototype and GT sports cars (part of the Labour Day weekend event), are now on sale.

Canada's national stock car championship, the CASCAR Super Series, makes its first of two trips to Mosport on Father's Day weekend (June 16-18) for a 200-km race at the road course. Joining the stock cars is the new Mazda Miata MX-5 Cup, plus several support races.

Mazda profits up 39 percent in third quarter

Mazda Motor Corporation's third-quarter profit jumped 39 percent from the previous year, and raised its full-year forecast to what would become a record for the Japanese automaker for the second straight year.

Autocross gives drivers a thrill

Chris Yearwood weaved his Mazda Miata around orange traffic cones and took a sharp curve before hitting a short straight-away. His passenger gripped the door handle while Yearwood maneuvered the small convertible around more cones, sliding on some loose gravel at one point.
